Important ITG Announcement

In light of the women who have recently come forward to share their stories of assault and harassment, the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) feels it necessary to speak out. 

The ITG’s mission is to promote communication among trumpet players around the world and to improve the artistic level of performance, teaching, and literature associated with the trumpet.  Within this mission, we must provide a safe space for all members. We recognize the pain victims of harassment, intimidation, manipulation, abuse of power, and sexual assault have experienced in the trumpet community.  We stand united with our sister organizations: the International Horn Society, the International Women's Brass Conference, the International Trombone Association, and the International Tuba Euphonium Association, in solidarity with the victims.\

The ITG is committed to being a part of necessary changes in our industry.  We will immediately form a committee to accept member feedback and continue to develop action items. 

A. ITG will:

1. Formulate resources that define a professional relationship, including how to establish, maintain, and respect boundaries.
2. Establish a Code of Conduct to be shared with the 2024 ITG Conference attendees.
3. Create an anonymous reporting system for the annual Conference.
4. Attempt to have a woman/underrepresented person in every group of student volunteers placed around the Conference to ensure representation.

B. Further discussion will continue at the next meeting of the ITG Board of Directors in Anaheim.
