2016 Virginia Tech Trumpet Festival

The 2016 Virginia Tech Trumpet Festival was held September 30th-October 1st in Blacksburg, Virginia, with guest artists Vincent and Gabriel DiMartino.

The festival featured several concerts and master classes featuring Virginia Tech students, faculty, and alumni, as well as high school musicians from across Virginia and guest performers Vincent and Gabriel DiMartino. Proceeds from the festival concert benefitted the Allen Bachelder Trumpet Scholarship at Virginia Tech, named in honor of Professor Emeritus Dr. Allen Bachelder. The concert showcased performances by Bachelder Scholarship winner Elizabeth Kania, Virginia Tech faculty Dr. Jason Crafton, alumnus Dr. Peyden Shelton, and the Virginia Tech Trumpet Ensemble, as well as Vincent and Gabriel DiMartino. The weekend concluded with a performance by the Virginia Tech Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Caldwell. This concert featured a performance of Kevin McKee’s Under Western Skies featuring Crafton and Shelton.
