Ryan Stransky to Alcorn State University

Dr. Ryan Stransky has been appointed Instructor of Music-Brass at Alcorn State University in Lorman, Mississippi. His duties include Applied Trumpet Lessons, Trumpet Ensemble, Brass Methods, and Music Appreciation.

Dr. Stransky recently completed a DMA in Trumpet Performance at the University of Southern California (USC). He also earned an MM in Trumpet Performance from Temple University, and a BM in Trumpet Performance from the University of Minnesota. His doctoral education at USC allowed him to study 3 fields outside of trumpet performance, receiving a major field in Music Teaching and Learning, a minor field in Instrumental Conducting, and a minor field in Baroque Trumpet/Early Music. He has done extensive study in these fields, and presented his research at the 2022 North American Baroque Trumpet Competition and Conference at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY, and at the 2022 Early Brass Festival in Northfield, MN.

Stransky studied trumpet under Tom Hooten, Jen Marotta, Tony Prisk, and Dr. David Baldwin. He received additional trumpet instruction and mentorship from Bob Dorer, Ron Hasselman, Jim Olcott, and David Bilger. He was also able to receive brass quintet coaching with Doug Tornquist, Tim Morrison, and Jeff Curnow.

Dr. Stransky is an active member and affiliated with The Honor Society, Pi Kappa Lambda, the International Trumpet Guild, and the Historic Brass Society.
