Title: Assistant / Associate Professor of Trumpet

The University of North Texas (UNT) College of Music is the largest public university music program and one of the most respected comprehensive music schools in the United States. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Summary
Teaching: Recruit, retain, and teach an outstanding enrollment of undergraduate and graduate trumpet students. Supervise graduate degree requirements, including graduate committees and dissertation documents. Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, coaching chamber ensembles and trumpet pedagogy and literature classes.

Research/Creative Activities: Maintain an established national/international profile as a performing artist (as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral musician, and/or other genres of performance).

Service: Participate fully in academic and professional activities, including service assignments, across the campus and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications: Earned Master’s Degree in Music with minimum five years of professional performance experience. Demonstrated success in teaching at the college/university level with a proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding students. Artist-level performer of solo and chamber repertoire. High and consistent standards of professional ethics and collegiality.

Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Trumpet Performance strongly preferred. Professional experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral musician. Performance expertise across repertoire including and beyond the European canon. Experience and enthusiasm for commissioning/premiering/recording new works for trumpet.
