University of South Carolina Asst./Assoc. Professor of Trumpet

POSITION: Assistant/Associate Professor of Trumpet

STARTING DATE: August 16, 2024

SALARY: Commensurate with Experience; 9-month – Tenure Track

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Engage in significant professional activities, maintaining regional, national, and international visibility as a trumpet performer and teacher; teach undergraduate and graduate trumpet applied students, pedagogy and literature courses, and secondary trumpet class; coach chamber music; recruit talented trumpet students for undergraduate and graduate music and music education degree programs. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: An earned doctorate (or ABD) in music is preferred; an earned master's degree in music is required. Candidates must have an outstanding record as a teacher of university level trumpet students and outstanding performance skills as evidenced by a performance resumé that could include excellent solo, chamber music, orchestral, jazz and commercial experiences. The ability and desire to recruit an excellent trumpet studio is required.

The School of Music is an independent unit on campus and a dynamic leader for music and music education in the United States with a full-time faculty of 59, and a student population of 475. Degrees in trumpet are offered through the doctoral level.
