For competitors & presenters, the essential details are below:
North American Baroque Trumpet Competition
The competition is open to all trumpeters age 30 and under as of April 11, 2022. All competitors must play two pieces: (1) The required piece is Giovanni Buonaventura Viviani's Sonata No. 1, to be played at A=415 in the crook of C, and (2) A second self-chosen work. If the second work is an accompanied work, it must be performed with accompaniment, and at A = 415, and a PDF of the accompaniment should be uploaded with the competitor's application.
First Prize shall be $1000 (from the Historic Brass Society) and a new Maller Brass Natural Trumpet, Second Prize shall be $500 (from the Historic Brass Society) and a new BfB Baroque trumpet, and Third Prize shall be $200 from the Baroque Trumpet Shop. The adjudicators may also award Honorable Mentions to non-winners.
The application fee shall be $35 and all competitors must be members of the Historic Brass Society.
Competitors will have the option playing with or without vent holes. The adjudicators will be experienced practitioners who recognize the challenge of playing with and without vent holes, as well as the added difficulty imposed by certain repertoire.
A pre-screen recording of both the required piece and self-chosen work must be uploaded with the competitors application. These should be uploaded as two separate MP3 files in the following format:
Applications for the competition are due January 15, 2022.
Competitors invited to the live round of the competition will be notified by February 1, 2022.

Paper presenters shall receive no remuneration and will be responsible for their own expenses.
