July 15 - July 20, 2019 – The Inaugural Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition. The inaugural competition will be for brass quintets (2 trumpets, one horn, trombone, tuba), and is intended for players ages 16 and 30, though the average age for any group in the competition may be no more than 28 at the end of the competition, July 20, 2019. The international jury will comprise five members (two trumpets, one horn, trombone and tuba) with special expertise in this field, led by the jury Chair Reinhold Friedrich. Applications for this competition will be received from July 1 to October 31, 2018. It is anticipated that 16 groups will be chosen to come to Manchester for the competition, which will be held at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, UK.
