I want to invite everyone to my historical Los Angeles jazz photography exhibition and/or Artist Reception, February 28, 2013 at the new Valley Performing Arts Center Gallery, on the campus of California State University, Northridge, CA (USA). This exhibit contains historical photography of Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley jazz clubs, and the famous and not so famous musicians that were recording for everyone, and would play often in local jazz clubs in the '70's and early '80's.  The Opening will be followed by a concert in the VPAC Hall given by the CSUN Jazz "A" Band, under the direction of Prof. John Daversa.

Photographer, Jon Deshler started taking pictures in the early 1970's and in a few years was hooked on listening to, and shooting, generally in performance, some of the greatest musicians in the world. Those that worked in the studios during the day, recording scores for TV, movies, commercials, and more, would come out at night to play at clubs like Donte's and Carmelo's in the heart of the Valley.   Having grown up in North Hollywood in the '60s and 70's Mr. Deshler, later attended CSUN for two years prior to transferring to the Pasadena, Arts Center College of Design. Mr. Deshler has been published worldwide for clients large and small including: AFLAC, Intel, LA Stage, Nike, Nokia, People’s Bank, Pioneer, Sony, The Oregon Symphony, Willamette Industries, and Xerox.

The artist reception is February 28th, 5-7, followed at 7:30 pm by the CSUN “A” Band concert, under the direction of Prof. John Daversa, in the VPAC Hall.

If you can't make the Opening please visit the VPAC website below and try and make an event between January 23 and March 8th, and you'll get a chance to see my jazz photography exhibit and a great concert at this new wonderful hall in the north Valley.
