Those who attended ITG 2005 in Bangkok will not have forgotten a striking recital from Laurence Gargan, principal trumpet of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Gargan's theme then was "The Lyric Trumpet" and he continues this idea in his new CD, The Lyric Trumpet and Organ.
Accompanied by organist George McPhee, Gargan offers a broad programme ranging from the Baroque era to the twentieth century:

The Scottish-born Gargan studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow before being appointed Sub-Principal Trumpet of the Seville Symphony Orchestra in 1990. He joined the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra in 1993 as Assistant Principal Trumpet, becoming Principal Trumpet in 1996. He became Principal Trumpet of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 2003.
