March 28, 2015 is the date for the Taps training event brought to us by the Youth Trumpet and Taps Corps, headed by trumpeter Katie Prior.  The free workshop will be held in Plano, Texas for high school trumpet players who are interested in volunteering to sound Taps at veterans' funerals. Due to a shortage of military buglers, many veterans receive and audio recording of Taps. The Texas Veterans Commission offers a $25 college tuition voucher each time a student volunteers at a funeral. The training session will be held at the Oak Point Recreation Center in Plano, Texas, on Saturday, March 28th, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. At this training, students will learn to improve their Taps performance, funeral etiquette, and what is expected of them as part of a Final Honors team.  More information about the program, the Youth Trumpet & Taps Corps, is available on their website http://www.TrumpetAndTaps.org.
