Doug Lindsey to University of Oklahoma

Doug Lindsey has been appointed to the faculty of the University of Oklahoma (OU), where his duties will begin in the Fall of 2023.

Lindsey has played as principal trumpet with the Memphis Symphony, section trumpet with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, section trumpet with the Columbus Symphony, on tour with the Mirari Brass Quintet, and the Wisconsin Brass Quintet, as solo cornet in the Fountain City Brass Band, as President and Principal cornet with the Georgia Brass Band. He also frequently tours with pianists and friends, Judy Cole and Kristy Olefsky.

In the Spring of 2023, Lindsey earned first place in the NABBA cornet technical category, and was appointed executive committee member on the NABBA board. Previous to his work at OU, he was on the faculty at Kennesaw State University from Fall 2012 to Spring 2023, and has been a featured artist with a number of well respected groups and at many conferences including:  the Atlanta Wind Symphony, at the International Trumpet Guild conference, at the Atlanta Trumpet Festival, at the Trumpet Festival of the Southeast, with the Kennesaw State Orchestra, the Kennesaw State Wind Ensemble, and the Georgia Brass Band . 

Currently, Lindsey studies privately with David King, and is always looking at ways to improve the sound and ease of his playing. Prior to earning his DMA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under the tutelage of John Aley, Lindsey studied with Allan Dean at Yale, earning his Master of Music with the distinction of winning the John Swallow excellence in brass prize. Lindsey received his music performance and music education degrees magna cum laude from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville under the guidance of Richard Rulli.  Other wonderful, influential teachers include: Ray Mase, Louis Ranger, Kevin Cobb, and Scott Moore. Lindsey is a Schilke performing artist.
