Position: Assistant Professor of Music with specialties in trumpet and music education (tenure-track)
St. Norbert College invites applications for a full-time, tenure track Assistant Professor of Music with specialties in trumpet and music education to start August 2018.
Teaching responsibilities will include teaching applied trumpet, world music, and music education methods. Other responsibilities include--but are not limited to--advising music students, participating in recruitment activities including scholarship auditions, attending internal and external events applicable to the College and the candidate's academic discipline, program assessment, engaging in professional development/scholarship, and participation in Department and College committees. Additional duties may include curriculum development, assisting with placement and supervision of student teachers, and conducting instrumental ensembles (according to candidate’s area of expertise).
Minimum qualifications: Doctoral degree in either Music or Music Education; experience teaching private lessons to brass students; strong commitment to excellence in teaching and performance; superior written and oral communication skills.
Preference will be given to candidates who have 3 or more years of public or private school teaching experience and experience teaching any of the following areas: elementary and secondary general music methods, general studies courses, instrumental ensembles.
