Brian Shook lecture at University of North Texas

On April 18, 2012, Dr. Brian Shook, assistant professor of trumpet at Lamar University, presented a lecture at the University of North Texas at the invitation of Keith Johnson.

Shook's topic was the life and pedagogy of William Vacchiano, long-time principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic. Those in attendance were treated to rare interviews and audio clips regarding Vacchiano's career. Shook also expanded on Vacchiano's educational philosophies, pedagogical insights, and equipment preferences. Following the lecture, Shook stayed to answer questions and sign copies of his new book, Last Stop, Carnegie Hall: New York Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Player William Vacchiano.
