Michael Sachs at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa

On October 14-16, 2023, Michael Sachs, Nathaniel Silberschlag, Brian Wendel, Yasuhito Sugiyama, and Marc Damoulakis, of the Cleveland Orchestra, were Artists in Residence and Clinicians for three days at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal.

2023 Midwest Trumpet Festival

Hosted by Pittsburg State University, the 2023 Midwest Trumpet Festival was successfully held on October 8-9 in Pittsburg, KS.


Brian Shook lecture at University of North Texas

On April 18, 2012, Dr. Brian Shook, assistant professor of trumpet at Lamar University, presented a lecture at the University of North Texas at the invitation of Keith Johnson.

Shook's topic was the life and pedagogy of William Vacchiano, long-time principal trumpet of the New York Philharmonic. Those in attendance were treated to rare interviews and audio clips regarding Vacchiano's career. Shook also expanded on Vacchiano's educational philosophies, pedagogical insights, and equipment preferences. Following the lecture, Shook stayed to answer questions and sign copies of his new book, Last Stop, Carnegie Hall: New York Philharmonic Principal Trumpet Player William Vacchiano.
