The Next Generation Trumpet Competition (NGTC) is pleased to announce its 2020 winners.

The competition's prize winners are:

 

1st Place ($500 prize): James Vaughen (Champaign, Illinois)

2nd Place ($300 prize): Mathea Strømmegjerde (Oslo, Norway)

3rd Place ($100 prize): Evan Andrew Kirshen (East Northport, New York)

 

NGTC had 39 participants (ages 19-25) from all of the world, who were competing in three rounds of virtual competition, using fifteen new etudes, written by Sheila Silver, Howie Kenty, Roger Zare, Marc Mellits and Nathan Hudson, as the required repertoire.

 

Alongside the competition, they held four Zoom Sessions with the composition and trumpet artists, as well as maintained a private FB Group where the participants could interact with, and ask questions of the artists.
