2019 Carmine Caruso Competition Results

ITG is pleased to recognize all of the finalists from the 2019 Carmine Caruso Competition.

The winners are:
1st Place - Dave Adewumi

2nd Place - Andrew Stephens

Other finalists included: Jake Baldwin, Cosimo Boni, and Skyler Floe.

Judges for the event were Tim Hagans, Charles Tolliver, and Ambrose Akinmusire. Caruso Method master classes were held by Julie Landsman.

The International Trumpet Guild and Herb Alpert Foundation sponsored this event. The competition/house rhythm section included Matt Ulery, Jon Deitemyer, and Rob Clearfield.

The guest artist big band included Roger Ingram, Dave Cooper, Vern Sielert, Russ Johnson, Bob Lark, Luke Malewicz, Ryan Shultz, Tim Coffman, Tom Matta, Nick Mazzarella, Mai Sugimoto, Geof Bradfield, Rajiv Halim, and Juli Wood.

ITG would like to thank DePaul University School of Music and its Director of Jazz Studies, Dana Hall, along with Heidi Hewitt and the technical staff from the Holtschneider Performance Center.

The 2021 Carmine Caruso Competition will be held in Denver, Colorado.
