Trumpeter Octavian Ursu elected mayor of Goerlitz (Germany)

Octavian Ursu, a solo trumpeter with a career as a classical musician, was recently elected major of the town of Goerlitz in Germany.

Ursu was a Romanian immigrant who studied trumpet in Bucharest and graduated from the National University of Music Bucharest in 1986. For many years, he was the solo trumpeter in the New Lausitz Philharmonic in Goerlitz. Goerlitz is a historic city on the border with Poland.
