Aaron Witek to Ithaca College

Dr. Aaron Witek has recently been appointed Assistant Professor of Trumpet at Ithaca College. He is replacing Professor Kim Dunnick, who is retiring after serving Ithaca College for 37 years.

Witek is active as a performer and educator while maintaining a demanding performance schedule as an orchestral musician, chamber musician, and recitalist. He has performed and given master classes throughout the U.S., China, and Australia. He is sought out as an adjudicator and has judged at the International Trumpet Guild Conference (ITG) and National Trumpet Competition numerous times. He has been published in the ITG Journal and with Mountain Peak Music and WR Enterprises.

His students have seen various successes, including being recipients of ITG scholarships and becoming a division finalist in the Music Teachers National Association Competition, and semifinalists at the National Trumpet Competition. Witek was recognized with two awards from his previous appointment at the University of Louisiana Monroe: the Foundation Award for Excellence in Teaching and the College of Arts, Education, and Sciences Dean's Award of Excellence.

Witek earned a D.M. and M.M. degrees from Florida State University, and a B.M.Ed. degree from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam.

Witek is proud to be a Conn-Selmer Artist and Education Clinician.
