February 26, 2017 - "Pictures in Brass", a concert featuring the Indiana University Brass Choir under the direction of Professor Edmund Cord, will be held at 6:00pm in Auer Hall on the Indiana University campus, Bloomington, IN (USA). This concert features the classic Moussorgsky collection of pieces titled ‘Pictures at an Exhibition’, and a moody and dramatic invocation of the mysteries of Salisbury Plain in ‘Stonehenge’, by American composer Crawford Gates. ‘Stonehenge’ was composed at the suggestion of former Principal Horn of the Chicago Symphony Dale Clevenger, now a member of the brass faculty here at IU. The selected arrangement of ‘Pictures’ was done by noted English composer, conductor and trumpeter Elgar Howarth in 1979. While inspired by Ravel’s well-known brilliant orchestration, Howarth’s arrangement is masterful and challenging, with its own inspired choices of brass and percussion colors.

Location Auer Hall, Indiana University, Bloomington, IN (USA)
