Composition Contest for
Trumpet and Voice

Deadline for receiving manuscripts (score and parts) and tape is January 1, 1999.

Manuscripts meeting the following criteria will be judged by the ITG Composition Contest Committee and a selected panel of composers and performers. Cash prizes of $1,500 and $750 will be awarded to the first and second place winners. The winning compositions will be premiered at the 1999 International Trumpet Guild Conference.

1. Instrumentation: Trumpet and Voice with Piano Accompaniment.

2. Eligibility: The work should be a new composition written for this contest during the 1997-1999 period. It should be unpremiered, although a tape recording of a reading is required with the manuscript.

3. Duration: Performance time must be between ten (10) to twenty (20) minutes.

4. Prizes: A first prize of $1,500 and a second prize of $750 will be awarded respectively. The ITG Composition Contest Committee reserves the right to award a first prize only, a second prize only, or no prize, based on the quality of the submitted compositions. All decisions are final. Winners will receive free registration to the 2000 ITG Conference.

5. Winning scores and parts, either manuscripts or if later published, must then carry the statement: Winner, (designate first or second prize), 1999 International Trumpet Guild Composition Contest.

6. The ITG Archives (Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo), must be given two (2) complete copies of the winning manuscript (score and parts) immediately after winners have been announced. (If published later, two free copies of the published edition must be given to each of the above.)

7. A list of all qualified entries, composers' names and addresses will be published in the ITG Journal. This list may be shared for publication in the journals of the International Horn Society, International Trombone Association, Tubists Universal Brotherhood Association, and other magazines.

8. These rules apply only to the 2000 ITG Composition Contest.

Each entry must be accompanied by a non-refundable $10.00 application fee. A composer may submit more than one composition, but each must be accompanied by the $10.00 fee.

Checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank and made payable to: International Trumpet Guild.
