Taylor University in Upland, Indiana has announced that recording and performing trumpet artist Tim Zimmerman will serve as an artist-in-residence at Taylor’s music department for the coming academic year.

Zimmerman is the founder of The King’s Brass—an ensemble group that tours United States-wide and has recorded 10 CDs. During his residency, he will work with Taylor music students and continue to tour with The King’s Brass.

“I’ve always appreciated Taylor University. It is a fine institution,” said Zimmerman. “I’ve known (Taylor music department chair) Al Harrison for many years. It is a great honor and I’m looking forward to it with great anticipation.”

“Tim Zimmerman is a renowned trumpet and brass artist and we are very excited about what he will bring to the music program at Taylor,” said Harrison. “We know our students and faculty will reap a tremendous benefit from having Tim aboard during the coming year.”

Zimmerman, a former artist-in-residence at Grace College (Wynona Lake, Indiana), said that the opportunity to reconnect with students drew him to Taylor.

“As I travel with King’s Brass, I get to see many of my former students across the United States. The one-on-one relationships we have formed goes on for life,” he said. “That is what I’m looking forward to at Taylor—the opportunity to invest myself in students who want to work hard and who are committed to the art and their faith.”

Zimmerman is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, Md. He has played with the Annapolis Symphony and Ft. Wayne Philharmonic Orchestras. He lives in Fort Wayne, Ind., with his wife Gina and their three children.
