ITG member Tony Ellis, currently playing in the Pacific Symphony Orchestra in Costa Mesa, California, recently auditioned for and won the principal trumpet position with the Opera Pacific Orchestra.
In 2005 Ellis received a Grammy certificate (only producers get the actual award), for his solo trumpet playing on the Southwest Chamber Music recording "Carlos Chávez: Complete Chamber Music Vol. 2". The ITG Journal review (March 2005, p. 75) described his playing on this CD as "virtuosic".
