Summer Seminar faculty and students

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) held its second annual Trumpet Seminar from July 18th – 26th, 2006. The week featured performances and masterclasses by GVSU trumpet seminar faculty Richard Stoelzel, Dorvial Puccini and Jean Libs. The week began with a trumpet faculty concert featuring solo performances as well as the faculty trumpet ensemble. The concert concluded with a thrilling performance of Virgen De Le Macarena featuring Mr. Vincent DiMartino, which led to a standing ovation. This was a terrific way to begin what was to be an outstanding week of trumpet performances and masterclasses. A highlight of the week was DiMartino’s solo recital which included a guest performance with his son, Gabriel DiMartino.

Each day began with group warm ups, small group trumpet ensemble rehearsals and a large group trumpet ensemble conducted by Jean Libs with pianist Ksenia Laletkina. Each evening featured masterclasses with the trumpet faculty. Students performed during the week in masterclasses and as soloists and trumpet ensemble members in the Final Concert.
