Dr Jean-Christophe Dobrzelewski is the newly-appointed instructor of trumpet at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, having taken up his new position in September 2006. He is also performing with the Sonorous Brass and freelancing in the Philadelphia area. He previously served as co-principal trumpet with the Midland/Odessa Symphony and the Lone Star Brass in Midland, TX. He has performed over 500 recitals with orchestra, organ, brass quintet, and other chamber ensembles, as well as giving numerous clinics in the United States, France, Switzerland, Central and South America.

Jean-Christophe has won prizes at the Selmer Competition in Paris (1999), and the Concerto Competition at the University of Maine (2001).  His professional experiences have brought him in contact with famous soloists such as Guy Touvron, Dr. Edward Tarr, Wolfgang Bauer, and Max Sommerhalder.  He has recently published a set of sixteen volumes of Orchestral Excerpt books and done two recordings for trumpet and organ, as well as typesetting and editing over sixty works, including the Trumpet Pedagogy book by David Hickman, from the catalogue for Hickman Music Editions.

Dobrzelewski received a “Prix de Trompette” for his undergraduate studies with Eric Aubier in Paris, a Master of Music Performance degree from the University of Maine, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance under Regents’ Professor David Hickman at Arizona State University.
