Custom mouthpiece maker Karl Hammond has announced the creation of a new company making “the latest in mouthpieces” for brass players, Karl Hammond Design. The company, located in Franklin Park, Illinois, promises to provide a new experience for the discerning brass player. An all-new line of trumpet and trombone mouthpieces will be available for brass players of all levels, but custom-designed mouthpieces and custom modifications will continue to be a strong focus for the company. Owner Karl Hammond says, “I wanted to create a company that took all of the guess work out of selecting a high quality brass mouthpiece. Our goal is to provide brass players with the most consistent line of standard mouthpieces in the industry, yet allow the discriminating player to have their mouthpieces customized or redesigned to fit their individual needs.” Hammond Design will also offer duplication services for the player that desires an exact replica of their current mouthpiece setup or may want to use their current mouthpiece as the starting point for a new mouthpiece design.
