John Pursell

ITG member and Yamaha Trumpet Artist Dr. John Pursell has been a featured trumpet clinician at four US state music educator conferences in the past three months.

Pursell was featured at conferences in Ohio, Minnesota, Kansas and Pennsylvania.  He presented clinics including "Pumping Brass - Applying Weight Training Principles to Embouchure Development," and "Patterns - How I Learned to Love Practicing Backwards." Audiences of several hundred were at each clinic.

John Pursell is retired from his position as the Senior Ceremonial Trumpeter with the United States Air Force Band in Washington, and has been a Yamaha Performing Artist for five years, touring nationwide as a soloist and clinician.  He is the author of a trumpeter's manual, What I've Learned: The Free Lance Trumpeter's Guide to Professional Music, published by AMG Publishing and available from Robert King Music Company.
