Italian soloist Gabriele Cassone features in an original-instruments Brandenburg released on the web by Swiss TV company RTSI. Readers are urged to visit one of the links given below to experience this striking broadcast.

In the video Cassone, along with Maurice Steger (flute), Guggero Vartolo (oboe) and Duilio Galfetti (violin), and the orchestra "I Barocchisti", is directed by the orchestra's founder Diego Fasolis in J. S. Bach's Brandenburg Concert No. 2. Cassone uses a trumpet by David Edwards (England)
for this performance.

Cassone is a trumpet player of wide-ranging skill and experience. As an orchestral musician he has played with the Milan and Turin RAI Symphony Orchestras as well as the La Scala Philharmonic. He made his solo debut at the Salzburg Festival in 1988 and now has interesting areas of specialisation at the extremes of the ages of trumpeting - he is much in demand as a Baroque soloist but has also performed premieres for Berio and Plog among others. Gabriele Cassone teaches trumpet and baroque trumpet at the Civic School of Ancient and Modern music in Milan, the Conservatory of Music in Novara and the Lausanne Conservatoire.
