| With Bricks Thrown At Ya CD cover |
"Australia's busiest brass quintet", the Seventh Chapter Ensemble, a classical brass quintet with percussion - has just released their album With Bricks Thrown At Ya which features new compositions by Australian composers. Funded locally by Arts Queensland, the Seventh Chapter tackles a mixture of classical, jazz and even hip-hop, which they tell us "further shows just how versatile the traditional brass quintet medium can be!" Featured is Robert Davidson's General What About If The..., a play on JFK's secret phone conversations about the Cuban Missile Crisis and the title track, With Bricks Thrown At Ya by ensemble member Thomas Green.
Other composers featured are Glen Brearley, Trevor Hart, Thomas Green, Andrew Garton and Robert Davidson, with two of the group's favourite pieces - Weave (by Belinda Reynolds) and Droned (Dan Becker) which was featured at last year's Fire Event at the Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland.
The album is now available online via the group's website,
where sample mp3s may also be heard.
