Central Methodist University 5th Invitational Brass Conference

On February 12, the Swinney Conservatory at Central Methodist University (CMU) hosted its 5th Invitational Brass Conference.
There were 116 participants who attended with their band directors from 13 different high schools. These all-day clinics and sessions were led by Dr. John Perkins (trumpets), Professor Larry Bennett (trombones), Mr. Steve Hanrahan (horns),  Professor Jackie Lordo (euphoniums and tubas), and Professor Skip Vandelicht (CMU Director of Bands). Topics ranged from solo and ensemble literature to the importance and value of playing in brass ensembles. A highlight of the day was the Boston Brass giving master classes to CMU students. The day concluded with performances by the CMU Trumpet Ensemble, the participants in their brass sections, and ultimately an evening concert by the Boston Brass.
