Southwestern Oklahoma State University Jazz Festival features Allen Vizzutti

Allen Vizzutti was the featured artist for the 44th Annual Southwestern Oklahoma State University Jazz Festival in Weatherford, Oklahoma on February 6-7th, 2014.

Vizzutti kicked off the event with a masterclass for the SWOSU trumpet students and then performing with Darrell Grant, piano, Lynn Seaton, bass, and Steve Hatfield, drums, on Thursday night. 

The next day, over 20 big bands from Oklahoma and Kansas middle schools, high schools, and universities attended the big band competition and heard Vizzutti perform two concerts with SWOSU Jazz Ensemble ‘A’.  In the afternoon, Vizzutti gave a masterclass that touched on a wide variety of topics from use of air to finger technique to his musical heroes. Vizzutti was sponsored in part by the Yamaha Corporation and from a grant from the Oklahoma Arts Council.
