ITG member Roger Steward, 75, of Indian Rocks Beach, died on August 8, 2005 at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park, Florida. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, and moved to Florida in the early 1980s from Oklahoma City, where he played trumpet in the Oklahoma City Symphony. He had graduated in 1952 from the Eastman School of Music. He played with the Clyde McCoy band and served in the Peace Corps in Guatemala. He was a music teacher at West Indies College, Mandeville, Jamaica, and professor of trumpet at several universities in Oklahoma. Locally, he was a private trumpet teacher for 10 years. His surviving family includes two daughters, Shevaun and Hilary, and a grandson, Richard.
