| Cichowicz's new excerpt book |
Vincent Cichowicz, Professor Emeritus, Northwestern University and former member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, has just published a collection entitled "Orchestral Excerpts for Trumpet with piano reduction accompaniments", writes publisher Balquhidder Music.
"Professor Cichowicz has gathered this material over many years and has used it in numerous Master Classes. Twenty-nine of the most often required orchestral audition passages are here accompanied by the original orchestral context in piano reductions, including Stravinsky, Petrouchka; Mahler, Symphonies No. 3 (posthorn solo) and 5; Gershwin, Piano Concerto in F; Mussorgsky, Pictures at an Exhibition; Respighi, Pines of Rome, etc.
"This remarkable resource will stimulate increased interest and mastery of the material as well as educate the player as to the larger context in which they perform as orchestra trumpet players.
"All those who are aware of the enormous influence of Prof. Cichowicz's teaching over many years will realize what a special collection this will prove to be. It will quickly become a necessary addition to every orchestra trumpet student's library."
This collection is published by Balquhidder Music, item number BQ-88, priced at $19.95. The piano book is seventy-four pages, the trumpet booklet is thirty-two pages and includes Prof. Cichowicz’s Flow Studies for Trumpet.
