The International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA) is pleased to announce the creation of the ITEA Roger Bobo Awards for Excellence in Recording and the ITEA Harvey G. Phillips Awards for Excellence in Composition. These awards are designed to support the creation of new recordings and compositions featuring the tuba and euphonium by spotlighting meritorious work in musical genres that feature these instruments in a prominent role. There are six awards available for composition and five for recordings. Awards will be presented during even years as part of each bi-annual International Tuba Euphonium Conference.

Areas for Bobo Recording awards include Solo Classical Tuba, Solo Classical Euphonium, Jazz/Rock/Fusion Tuba, Jazz/Rock/Fusion Euphonium, and Chamber Music Tuba and/or Euphonium. Phillips Composition awards will be offered for Solo Tuba Works (accompanied or unaccompanied), Solo Euphonium Works (accompanied or unaccompanied), Solo Tuba in Chamber Music, Solo Euphonium in Chamber Music, Solo Tuba in the Jazz/Rock/Fusion Medium, and Solo Euphonium in the Jazz/Rock/Fusion Medium.

Deadline for submission or nominations of recordings or compositions is January 15, 2006. Recordings must have been released between January 1, 2004 and December 31, 2005. Re-issues are not eligible for consideration. Compositions must be original works completed between January 1, 2001 and December 31, 2005.
