Flight: antiphonal trumpet group

Nazareth Area High School, in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, have sent us this charming photo of a group of alumni trumpet players assembled for a concert in January.

The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association held its 2005 District 10 Band Festival at the school on January 6 - 8. Guest Conductor Robert F Zellner, himself a native of Nazareth, thought it would be nice to have Nazareth alumni trumpet players, who themselves had been members of district bands, to play the antiphonal trumpet parts for Claude T Smith's Flight.

Research revealed 23 eligible alumni from classes between 1946 and 2004, and from those the 13 players pictured above came and played, giving a range of classes from 1947 to 2004. Those playing were:

Marion Egge, Ralph Brodt Jr, Dallas R Yeakel, Greg Ruth, Ralph Brodt III, Rich Ressler, Todd Silvius, Tim Harkcom, Matthew Silvius, Bradley Boandl, Jeffrey Serfas, Amanda Cortezzo and Rachel Sustak.
