Tage Larsen and Truman trumpets

In February of 2005, Tage Larsen of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra trumpet section visited Truman State University in Kirksville, Missouri performing a solo recital and working with Truman trumpet students in a series of master classes. Mr. Larsen shared ideas about auditioning and the professional world of trumpet playing and also performed works by Honegger, Haydn, Turrin, Fasch, and Hubeau along with Truman piano professor Dr. Shannon McGinnis. Mr. Larsen also talked about his experiences as the first African American member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in its long history and his success in winning positions in the US Marine Band, the St. Louis Symphony, and the Cleveland Orchestra.
