National Symphony Orchestra trumpet player David Flowers died on January 28, 2005.

He was born in Steubenville, Ohio and studied at the University of Michigan, later receiving a doctorate from the Catholic University of America. He was a sought-after player in the Washington, DC area for solos and in a variety of ensembles and orchestras. In addition to teaching privately, Dr. Flowers had served on the faculties of three universities in or close to Washington DC: the Catholic University of America, American University, and George Mason University.
