As part of their Spring 2005 tour, Ronald and Avis Romm performed at the Mountain Empire Honor Band Festival, held at East Tennessee State University on January 22. The Romms were invited by, and were the guests of, Dr David Champouillon, Associate Professor of Trumpet at ETSU. Over 100 listeners (which included the honor band students, ETSU trumpet studio, and guests) were treated to the highest level of musicianship, humility, and class.
The recital included special arrangements for trumpet and piano of Ravel’s Pavane, Jubilation (based on Bach’s Prelude in C minor for Lute), and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. The highlight of the recital was the performance of Del Staiger’s Carnival of Venice. The recital demonstrated true virtuosity on the behalf of both performers and more importantly true love for each other and the music, well noticed by all of the listeners.
The Romms’ playing can be heard on their recently released collaborative disc entitled “Wellness for The Soul, Volume 1 – Seeing The Light”. For more details please see their website, linked below.
