Mark Ledford, the American trumpet player, vocalist, guitarist and drummer, died on 1st November 2004, in Los Angeles, from a heart attack. He was 44.

Ledford, a long-time Pat Metheny collaborator, was raised in Detroit and studied at Berklee from 1978 to 1982. His other work included such luminaries as Pat Metheny, Bobby McFerrin, Hugh Masekela, Mary J. Blige, Eliane Elias, and Youssou N'Dour.
