Late July saw the launch party for Matt Shulman's new CD "While We Sleep" with the
ShulmanSystem Band. The event took place at "Fat Cat" in Manhattan, New York.
The CD has received extensive reviews, which may be read at its web page (URL below). The site tells us: "In 'While We Sleep', you will hear the ShulmanSystem Band navigate through
a dream sequence of trance inducing grooves, standard standards, and
poignant unaccompanied solo trumpet excursions. Matt Shulman's original
compositions draw from European classical music, traditional jazz, and
experimental electronica, featuring his multi dimensional approach to
the trumpet and improvisation.
The ShulmanSystem Band frequently performs in New York City at such celebrated venues as Fat Cat and The Knitting Factory."
ITG member Shulman is also known for having developed
the ShulmanSystem for Brass, a "resonating-balance-stabilization device" involving a neck strap and support for the trumpet.
