This new book is a narrative of the Russian trumpet tradition from around 1700 to 1917. There follows a thorough discussion of German emigrants to Russia, as well as Russian emigrants to the United States during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It includes a history of Russian players, instruments, and style. It also includes an extensive annotated list of trumpet performers and teachers, both Russian-born and immigrants, who made significant contributions to Russian trumpet playing from its early stages through today.
