| In April 2004, Dr. Joseph Bowman performed a series of master classes at Texas Christian University, Oral Roberts University, and Kansas State University. Bowman is Professor of Trumpet and Chair of the Brass and Percussion Department at Mahidol University, in Bangkok, Thailand. He is also the host for the 2005 International Trumpet Guild Conference, which will take place in Bangkok on June 21-24, 2005. Bowman, whose trip was sponsored by Yamaha, is a Yamaha Performing Artist.
On April 13, Bowman visited Texas Christian University, in Fort Worth, Texas, where he performed with the TCU Trumpet ensemble in their spring concert. Featured on the concert was the Gordon Mathie arrangement of the first movement of the Concerto in Eb by Gottfried Heinrich Stolzel. Later in the program, Bowman joined Dr. Jon Burgess, trumpet professor at TCU, in a performance of Bozza's Dialogues and an arrangement of the Flower Duet by Delibes.
On April 15, Bowman visited Dr. Doug Wilson at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He presented a master class which focused on trumpet fundamentals, and spent a good deal of time emphasizing listening skills and their effect on playing. Finally, on April 20, Bowman was at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas and was the guest of trumpet professor Gary Mortenson. Bowman spent time coaching the KSU Student Brass Quintet, teaching private lessons, and working with students in a master class. In the master class, he took the opportunity to discuss many different aspects of trumpet playing, and answered questions from the students.
