NWS Mahler 5 section: see text for caption

Justin Bartels and Oscar Montoya received appointments to the New World Symphony in Miami, Florida. Michael Sapienza and Ryan Barwise received appointments to the Chicago Civic Orchestra. Oscar Montoya, Michael Sapienza and Ryan Barwise were students of Marie Speziale at The Shepherd School of Music, Rice University. Justin Bartels was a student of Ms. Speziale's at the Indiana University School of Music.

Recently, the New World Symphony toured Europe playing Mahler's Symphony No. 5 under the baton of Michael Tilson Thomas. The section was:

• Second, Oscar Montoya
• Third, Adam Luftman
• Fourth, Ryan Barwise
• Assistant, Michael Sapienza
