| Carl Hess |
H. Carl Hess, Jr., a junior applied music major from Rocky Gap, VA, was recently named winner in the 2004 Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) Eastern Division Performance Competitions in the Yamaha Young Artist Brass category. Hess will represent the thirteen states of the Eastern Division in National Competition at the organization's annual conference in Kansas City, Missouri, March 27-31. His program includes trumpet works by Arutunian, Neruda, Fasch, Arnold, and Honegger. His accompanist Jan Corrothers is adjunct instructor of music at Alderson-Broaddus College. Hess is a student of Timothy DeWitt, professor of music at Alderson-Broaddus. Carl Hess has been a been a member of ITG since 1998.
