Christopher Moore
Dr. Christopher Moore has been appointed Assistant Professor of Trumpet in the School of Music at Florida State University effective August, 2003. He will be joining Bryan Goff who continues to serve as Professor of Trumpet and Coordinator of Winds and Percussion.

Dr. Moore holds a BM in trumpet performance from Florida State University, a MM from Univ. of New Mexico, and the DMA from the Eastman School of Music. He has won numerous solo competitions, including top prize at the International Trumpet Guild competition in 1987, has also been a finalist at the Ellsworth Smith International Trumpet Competition and the MTNA National Competition.

Dr. Moore served as Assistant Professor of Music at Morningside College, and from 1994 to 1996, was a full-time member of the Chestnut Brass Company. As a member of the Chestnut Brass, Moore recorded the CD Hornsmoke, which won the Grammy Award in their field in February of 2000.

Moore will be leaving his current position as professor of trumpet at the University of Kansas, where he has taught for the past seven years as the director of trumpet studies, director of the KU trumpet ensemble and performed with the Kansas Brass Quintet. His talents have been increasingly recognized by the ITG community by his many invitations to perform in principal positions on the Festival of Trumpets, the ITG scholarships awarded to his students, and the invitation for his KU Trumpet Ensemble to perform at the ITG conference.

With the appointment of Dr. Moore, FSU will have two full-time trumpet professors and four graduate teaching assistants, serving almost 50 trumpet music majors. Professor Moore will also share the trumpet duties in the Florida State Brass Quintet and will join the trumpet section of the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra.
