The Melbourne International Festival of Brass takes place 17-24 August 2003 in Melbourne, Australia.

MIFB webmaster Ben Manstead writes: "We have some terrific Trumpet guests including Niklaus Eklund, David Staff, Geoff Payne, Tristram Williams, James Morrison and the Stockholm Chamber Brass plus some fantastic Horn, Trombone and Tuba instrumentalists. Our Honorary Patron is the great Barry Tuckwell."

A recent addition to the MIFB programme is a late evening gig in Federation Square on Friday 22 August featuring the Australian trumpet legend James Morrison. The festival website lists this among many other concerts, masterclasses, warmup sessions and open rehearsals, and Smashing the Brass Ceiling in which a panel of women brass players offers a female perspective on the rewards and challenges of their profession. Festival evenings can be rounded off with "Jazz at the Loft", a series of 10pm jazz slots at "Melbourne's newest venue for quality live music".
