A session honoring the late Gilbert Johnson will be held at ITG 2004 in Denver. Johnson was solo trumpet of The Philadelphia Orchestra (1958-1975), professor of trumpet at the Curtis Institute of Music and Temple University, and professor of trumpet at the University of Miami (1975-2002). There will be a panel discussion made up of prestigious colleagues of Mr. Johnson and noted present trumpeters influenced by his playing and teaching. There will also be a trumpet ensemble consisting of former Johnson students.
