Abbos

Abbos, a group of traditional Uzbek musicians from Tashkent, are giving concerts in Glasgow and London between 3rd and 10th May.

The group, which plays trumpets, flutes and drums (karnay, surnay and doira), is participating in two major London Sinfonietta concerts, "Trumpets!" in Glasgow and London (see ITG News link below) and also performing as follows:

3.30pm, Saturday 3 May - Horniman Museum, London
An ethnomusicological introduction to the music of Abbos and the Horniman's collection of Uzbek instruments.

6.00pm, Wednesday 7 May - Pollockshaw Burgh Hall, Glasgow
Concert of Russian music also featuring local performers and a Russian folk group.

6.30pm, Saturday 10 May - Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
Free pre-concert event before the London Trumpets! concert.
