Trumpeter Peter Knight wins Bell Award
Australian Music Centre—Trumpeter-composer Peter Knight won the 2012 Bell Award for the Most Original Jazz Album for his Fish Boast of Fishing in the Bell Award ceremony on May 3, 2012.
According to the Bell Awards website, the Australian Jazz Bell Awards, named for Australian Jazz great Graeme Bell, “recognize and encourage excellent in the performance, creativity, recording and presentation of Jazz in Australia.”
Knight’s eclectic approach integrates jazz, world music, and experimental traditions in his multidisciplinary artwork. In addition to his busy performing career, he composers for theater and film and designs sound installations. He has released seven albums of his works prior to this.
