The Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition will be held on November 15,
2003 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. Five finalists will
compete for a first prize of $10,000 and a second prize of $5,000. The event is
sponsored by the International Trumpet Guild and the Herb Alpert Foundation.
The artist/judges are Laurie Frink (Bob Mintzer Big Band), Clay
Jenkins (Eastman School of Music), Tiger Okoshi (Berklee College of Music), and John
Swana (Criss Cross Recording Artist).
The competition finalists are
Nathan Botts, David Bijoy Champagne, Dominick Farinacci, Jason Palmer
and Gregory Rivkin.

The Grand Finale concert will feature the
US Army Blues from Washington, DC, along with performances by the judges and the
two competition winners.
