A solemn moment as Champouillon plays Taps

On September 11th, a memorial service commemorating the 9/11 terrorist attack was held at the Tri-Cities Regional Airport in Tennessee. The program was entitled "Remember … Salute … and the Ultimate Sacrifice" and included speeches by General Gordon R. Sullivan (retired, former United States Armed Forces Chief of Staff) and Chief James B. Gargan (Ground Zero Rescue Specialist). Highlights of the service also included an USAF fly-by and a presentation of unpublished photos of rescue efforts from Ground Zero.

The service concluded with Taps being performed next to the largest recovered piece of Flight 175 that struck the World Trade Center. Dr. David Champouillon (trumpet professor at East Tennessee State University and an USAF band system veteran) was honored to have performed Taps.
