Playing and teaching at Mahidol ...
Lertkiat Chongjirajitra

Well-known Thai trumpeter Lertkiat Chongjirajitra recently visited the Mahidol University College of Music in Bangkok, Thailand. He performed a mini-recital and conducted a master class, giving the Mahidol trumpet students the opportunity to perform and ask questions. Chongjirijitra received his training at the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok and at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. He has performed throughout Asia as soloist and clinician.

Chongjirijitra began his recital program by performing a short fanfare with Mahidol trumpet professor Dr. Joseph Bowman and Dr. James Sherry, director of bands. He continued with Goedicke's Concert Etude, followed by a Puccini aria, Bellini's Concerto in D, a few traditional Japanese tunes arranged by Doppler, and concluded the program with Legend by Georges Enesco. Performing with a wonderful sense of musicality and spirit, Chonjirijitra left all who attended the event inspired.

In his subsequent master class, Chongjirijitra took time to address many fundamental aspects of trumpet playing, including proper warm up and practice routines, the importance of breathing efficiently, and several other important topics. He urged the students to take advantage of all their opportunities to hear international trumpeters, and to spend as much time listening to recordings as possible.
